In the ultimate showdown of dogged defense, puppy penalties and fido first downs, shelter and rescue pups rush the field on Superbowl Sunday for the “Puppy Bowl!” A puppy adopted from the Riverside Regional Pet Shelter, located in Mankato, has just been chosen to take part in the 6th annual Puppy Bowl, filming in New York on October 15! Sophie is the only puppy from Minnesota who has been invited to the Puppy Bowl.

Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl is dedicated to promoting Petfinder and encouraging people to adopt dogs from shelters and rescue groups, like the Riverside Regional Pet Shelter. The puppies’ playful antics melt the hearts of viewers, and encourage them to support pet adoption in their own community.

Riverside Regional Pet Shelter wants to get Sophie to the Puppy Bowl to help dispel the myth of “shelter mutts” and educate people about the diversity of the breeds available at the shelter – from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, Yorkies to Newfoundlands.

Sophie will show the world what shelter dogs are really like!
